The framework ensures that the UN development system will support each country based on their national priorities. It guides the system in convening the best sources of UN expertise inside and outside the country, and mobilizing a spectrum of development partners beyond the United Nations.

The UN Sustainable Development Group derives its mandate from the Comprehensive Policy Review of operational activities for development of the United Nations system, a General Assembly resolution (72/279) that serves as an important instrument for the monitoring and the assessment of UN development operations.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 goals with 169 targets that all 191 UN Member States have agreed to try to achieve by the year 2030.

United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework The Cooperation Framework—an agreement between the UN and the host government—determines and reflects the UN development system's contributions in the country and shapes the configuration of UN assets required inside and outside the country.
