At the global level, the UNSDG serves as a high-level forum for joint policy formation and decision-making. It guides, supports, tracks and oversees the coordination of development operations in 162 countries and territories.

Leaving no one behind is the core principle of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, representing the commitment of all UN member states to eradicate poverty, terminate exclusion and discrimination as well as reduce inequalities – all being obstacles to the realisation of human rights for all.

The framework ensures that the UN development system will support each country based on their national priorities. It guides the system in convening the best sources of UN expertise inside and outside the country, and mobilizing a spectrum of development partners beyond the United Nations.
